The
definition of Convergence Culture according to Jenkins is the combination of
old and new medias. When this combination occurs is when the corporate and
consumer sides of market interact. We often use these types of medias in
today’s culture with things like smart phones and smart T.V.’s. Thus involving
many of us in the convergence culture we see today. The idea of creative
engagement is the idea that we all have the ability to create things. Physical
or non-physical this can be seen in almost every aspect of society in art,
music, school, work, anywhere. People today are engaged in this through
convergent mediums. For example, after the show the walking dead every Sunday you
can follow live tweets during the show and can tweet responses in a live talk
show after the show on another program called the Talking Dead. By doing things
like this viewers feel more involved and everyone benefits corporately and
individually.
